Machinery & capabilities

The machines behind the work

A working summary of the workshop and what it can produce. The full specification of every machine is being confirmed as the workshop is commissioned — we would rather publish accurate numbers than convenient ones.

Straight up

Specifications marked TBC are still to be confirmed

Chilverstone Engineering was established in 2026 and the machine list is being finalised. Every value marked TBC on this page will be replaced with the confirmed figure once the client has supplied it.

In the meantime, if you have a job in mind, send us the drawing. We will confirm straight away whether we can hold the size and tolerance you need — and if we cannot, we will tell you rather than quote for it anyway.

Machine list

Workshop equipment

Six groups of equipment cover the work we take on: turning, milling, manual work, material preparation, fabrication and inspection.

Capability summary

What we can take on

A single view of the limits we work to. Everything marked TBC will be confirmed, and everything else is already fixed.

Capability summary — Chilverstone Engineering, established 2026
Capability Range Notes
Max turning diameter TBC To be confirmed with the machine list
Max turning length TBC To be confirmed with the machine list
Max milling envelope TBC Travel limits of the machining centre
Achievable tolerance TBC Dependent on feature, material and set-up
Materials Steel, stainless, aluminium, brass, bronze, plastics Other grades on request
Batch sizes One-offs upwards Upper batch limit TBC
Drawing formats accepted PDF, DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES Sketch, photograph or sample also accepted
Typical lead time TBC Confirmed per job at quotation

Tooling & inspection

Checked before it leaves

Machining is only half the job — the other half is proving the part is right. Parts are checked in-process and again before dispatch, using measuring equipment appropriate to the tolerance on the drawing.

  • Cutting tools and holders selected per material and feature
  • In-process checks during machining, not just at the end
  • Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges and standards — TBC
  • Inspection results recorded against the job
  • Certificates of conformity available on request

Honesty clause

If we can’t do it, we’ll tell you

There are jobs that need a bigger machine, a different process or a specialist finish. Rather than quote for something we would struggle with, we will say so at the enquiry stage and, where we can, point you towards a workshop that can handle it.

That is also why this page is honest about what is still to be confirmed. As the capability list grows, it will grow here first.

Have a drawing? Let’s talk about it.

Send us your drawings, sketches or a sample part and we’ll come back with a price and a lead time.
